The situation
Kenzi was starting out in photography. Like every photographer at the start, the work was 70% admin and 30% actual shooting, bookings, contracts, invoices, gallery delivery, follow-ups. The off-the-shelf SaaS tools all wanted a monthly fee, all locked her into their ecosystem, and none of them quite fit the way she worked.
She needed someone who could build the bits she needed, and then keep building as the business grew.
What I built
A working relationship over six years, with the toolset evolving as Kenzi’s business did.
- The portfolio website on WordPress, fast, mobile-friendly, designed around photography, and rebuilt as the business matured.
- Gallery delivery automated, finished photos delivered to clients with the right reminders, the right access, the right window of availability.
- Invoicing automated, raised, sent and followed up without Kenzi in the loop.
- A fully custom CRM for enquiries. Several a week land in it, get tracked and get answered, and none of them get lost in DMs.
The outcome
The studio runs itself in the background while Kenzi shoots. The admin that used to eat evenings happens automatically, in the right order, on Kenzi’s timing rules, not a SaaS platform’s defaults.
The enquiries that used to live scattered across email and social DMs now land in one place, tracked from first message to booked shoot. Six years on, the toolset is still growing with the business.
“Dan has created websites and automations for me since the beginning of my career in photography. He’s mastered the art of creating something that just works. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with this part of my business.”
