The situation
Kombi Camping needed a booking system that handled the way they actually rented out kombi vans, not the way the off-the-shelf SaaS booking tools assumed everyone rented things.
The available tools either didn’t handle the booking dates and deposits correctly, or charged enterprise prices for features that didn’t quite fit, or required workarounds that broke as soon as a real customer used them.
Flynn’s brief was short: a booking flow that just worked, with payment, with reminders, that lived on the Kombi Camping site, not on a third-party calendar URL.
What I built
A custom booking platform, built from the ground up into the Kombi Camping website.
- A date-aware booking form that respected vehicle availability and existing reservations.
- Stripe checkout built in, deposit and balance handled cleanly online, no awkward “now pay the rest by bank transfer” emails.
- Automated email confirmations the moment a booking lands.
- Reminder sequences in the lead-up to a customer’s trip, so nobody arrives on the day surprised.
- An admin view of all upcoming bookings, synced straight into the calendar the team already uses.
The outcome
Kombi hire isn’t a volume business. It’s a handful of bookings a month, and every one of them is a big-ticket hire that has to go right, for the customer and for the vans.
Now customers book, pay and get reminders without Flynn touching anything. The site looks and feels like Kombi Camping, not like a booking widget bolted onto the side. And the dates, deposit and confirmation that used to be juggled by hand run in one flow. The team measure the saving at an hour on every booking, at minimum.
